Lifestyle and Nutrition Recommendations
We provide patients with guidance on adjunctive lifestyle and nutrition strategies to maximize treatment success:
Exercise - Activity preserves muscle, bone density, and cardiovascular fitness. Both aerobic and strength training are key. We recommend 150 minutes weekly of moderate exercise along with 2-3 strength sessions.
Diet - Emphasizing anti-inflammatory whole foods high in antioxidants protects health. These include fruits, vegetables, omega-3s from fish/nuts/seeds, high-fiber carbs, plant proteins, and healthy fats like olive oil. Stay hydrated and minimize sugar, refined grains, and processed foods.
Stress management - Chronic stress raises cortisol, which works against healthy hormone balance. Relaxation practices like meditation, yoga, massage, and good sleep give hormones an assist.
Supplements - We may recommend supplements as needed to provide raw materials for optimal hormone production or boost overall wellness. These may include vitamins D3 and B, magnesium, zinc, adaptogens like ashwagandha, etc.
Avoid toxins - Limit exposure to endocrine disruptors that impair hormonal health - substances like BPA plastics, phthalates, parabens, lead, mercury, and pesticides.
Check-in regularly - Follow-up appointments allow us to ensure your continuing success on treatment. We can make dosage adjustments and give updated guidance as needed over time. Consistency is key.
